Effect of ALK2 on Proliferation and Differentiation of Mouse Osteoblasts

Abstract

To investigate the effect of activin receptor like kinase 2 (ALK2) in osteoblasts on the proliferation
and differentiation of mouse osteoblasts, and analyze its mechanism. The model of ALK2 gene knockout mice
was established and killed in 21 days. The mice were divided into two groups: normal control group and alk
knockout group. MTT assay was used to detect the proliferation of cells, and ALP quantitative analysis was used
to detect the changes of osteogenic differentiation. Compared with the control group, the MTT of ALK knockout
group decreased significantly (P < 0.05). Compared with the normal control group, the quantitative results of
ALP in ALK knockout group were significantly reduced (P < 0.05). ALK2 can promote the proliferation and
differentiation of mouse osteoblasts, promote the differentiation of bone marrow monocytes to osteoclasts, and
promote the bone resorption ability of osteoclasts.
