Investigation of the Composition of the Basal Diet for Laying Hens

  • Azevedo Silva

The production of diesel fuel from vegetable oil has increased exponentially. Through the reaction, the fatty acids are methylated to form methyl alkyl esters (i.e., biodiesel), and the principal coproduct from the process is crude glycerol. The objective of the study was to determine the Apparent Metabolizable Energy of crude glycerol when fed to laying hens.
