A Study on Bluetongue Virus Serotype-1 in Goats
Bluetongue (BT) is an infectious but non–contagious arthropod borne viral disease of domestic and wild
ruminants belong to Genus Orbivirus and family Reoviridae. Bluetongue virus (BTV) causes economically
important hemorrhagic disease mainly in sheep and occasionally in cattle and other species. BTV is transmitted
biologically by Haematophagous midges in the genus Culicoides, and infection occurs throughout the temperate
regions (45 to 53 °N and 35 °S) of the world coincident with the distribution of competent Culicoides vectors.
