Abstract

As countries all over the world pay more and more attention to animal diseases and food safety,
international trade disputes on meat products caused by animal disease control measures are becoming
increasingly fierce. If an epidemic occurs in one place, the export of meat products of the entire country will be
resisted by other countries, which seriously hinders the normal progress of international trade of meat products.
At present, animal disease control measures have become the most important factor affecting the international
trade of meat products. The purpose of this article is to investigate the impact of swine epidemic management
and control measures on the international trade of pork products. The case of the outbreak of foot-and-mouth
disease in Taiwan was used to demonstrate the significant impact of pig infectious diseases on the international
trade of pork products. , From the perspective of trade economy, analyze the mechanism of the pig epidemic
situation and its control measures on the international trade of pork products, and analyze the resulting macro
and micro effects on the international trade of meat products. The results of the study show that the outbreak of
foot-and-mouth disease has reduced Taiwan ’s share of the Japanese market to less than 10%, and basically
withdrew from the Japanese market after 1998, resulting in a prolonged slump in the pork market; in addition,
the occurrence of pig epidemics and strict control have forced the country where the epidemic occurred The
decision to adjust the production structure of pork has been made, to a certain extent, the adjustment and
upgrading of the production structure of the pork industry has been achieved.
